Wichita's long campaign season ends Tuesday, Nov. 3, when Sedgwick County voters head to their assigned polling places for the 2026 general election. Kansas law sets Election Day hours at 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and anyone standing in line at 7 p.m. will still be allowed to vote.

Advance in-person voting in Kansas ended at noon on Monday, Nov. 2, so there is no early option left. On Tuesday, Wichita voters must vote at the polling place assigned to their address — the Sedgwick County Election Office and the Kansas Secretary of State's VoterView tool can confirm your location before you leave home.

Bring a photo ID. Kansas requires voters casting a ballot in person to show photographic identification, such as a Kansas driver's license or nondriver ID, a U.S. passport, a military ID, a tribal ID, a government employee ID or a student ID from an accredited Kansas college or university. Voters 65 and older may use an expired photo ID. A voter without an acceptable ID can cast a provisional ballot, which counts once the ID is presented to the county election office before the county canvass.

At the top of the ballot, Kansans choose a new governor — Democrat Cindy Holscher, a state senator from Johnson County, faces Republican Ty Masterson, president of the Kansas Senate, for the seat being vacated under term limits. Voters will also decide whether Republican U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall keeps his seat against Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton, pick all four of Kansas's U.S. House members, weigh a proposed constitutional amendment, and fill state legislative, judicial and county offices.

Sedgwick County voters will also see county commission and local races on their ballots, and some Wichita-area voters will have school board and city questions depending on their address. Because ballots differ by precinct, election officials urge voters to preview a sample ballot through VoterView before heading out.

Results will not be final Tuesday night. County canvasses in the days after the election make the numbers official, and close races may wait on provisional and late-arriving advance ballots that Kansas law allows to count if postmarked by Election Day and received within the grace period.
